About Chase Bank
Despite the fact that Chase Bank has only been around since 2000, the financial institution (as we know it today) is the culmination of many mergers. The Bank of Manhattan corporation, a New York institution established at the end of the 18th century, merged with Chase National Bank (founded in the late 19th century) in 1955 to become the bank’s oldest predecessor. Since Chase National had previously inherited one of J. Rockefeller’s largest assets, this merger was particularly important in the bank’s history. As a result, the newly created bank was positioned as one of America’s largest financial institutions, a position it still holds today, as Chase Bank is one of America’s Big Four.
Another significant turning point was the December 2000 merger with multinational JP Morgan. The agreement was regarded as one of the world’s largest and most complicated of its kind. Later mergers and acquisitions occurred, including the purchase of Washington Mutual and the merger with Bank One, which culminated in the bank’s corporate headquarters being relocated from New York to Chicago.
Chase Bank provides personal, corporate, and commercial banking services such as checking and savings accounts, credit and debit cards, auto loans, mortgages, merchant services, business lending, and payroll solutions, among others. Around half of all US households now use Chase Bank’s goods and services.
